He has served in the Idaho House of Representatives, 5th District. The Appropriations, National Resources and Conservation Committees of the House as well as Education, Local Government and Business Committees have seen his diligence. He has served his community in other capacities. In addition to James Lucas’ support of and participation in the previously mentioned activities, attention is called to the following. The Idaho Cooperative Extension System received a special 1990 appropriation from the Idaho Legislature largely due to his leadership efforts. Seventeen county extension offices have satellite dishes and classrooms with many others to follow due to “Doc” Lucas’ perseverance. James R. “Doc” Lucas is a problem solver who knows what it takes to succeed. His life’s work truly epitomizes the “Spirit of Idaho.”
