Ernest Hemmingway
Born July 21, 1899 Ernest Hemingway was one of the most influential American writers and notable personalities of the twentieth century. Winner of both the Pulitzer and Nobel prizes, Hemingway’s novels and short stories garnered critical and popular acclaim, and are enjoyed the world over to this day. His impressive body of work includes the novels A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls and The Old Man and the Sea.
Ernest Hemingway traveled extensively throughout his life and lived in exotic locales including Paris, Havana and Key West. He first visited Idaho in 1939, returning many times to the Sun Valley area before buying his own home in 1958. Located in Ketchum, Hemingway lived there until his death. |
